Most homeowners these days have opted to have some kind of security camera system, whether that be through Ring, Nest, or whatever else. It gives people peace of mind.
On the other hand, these camera systems have also resulted in some of the most terrifying footage there is. From criminals trying to break into houses to literal cryptids, you can find thousands of videos that depict these types of events online.
If you have a camera system yourself, you might have had that weird anxiety that there might be a time you open the app to see something you shouldn’t. Will there be a strange being outside? An unexplainable cryptid standing at your front door?
I’m sure the videos floating around online doesn’t help these fears. And, if you do have that anxiety, you probably shouldn’t continue reading this. Or maybe you should. Face your fears, right?
Ring doorbell cameras especially seem to be the main culprit of this spooky phenomenon. These things give us insight on certain aspects we would have never seen before, capturing once in a lifetime events at times. One of them that I always go back to was during the 2016 clown sightings, where plenty of cameras, including doorbell and dashcams, caught sight of random clowns.
We can’t for sure say all of these are real, obviously. Lots of them are clearly fake in my opinion, but there’s definitely some interesting videos taken during this time that feel a little less than cinematic and more “oh shit, that’s real.” I only say that because there certainly were some idiots actually dressing up as clowns to perform criminal activity, just as there were idiots dressing up as clowns just for a quick scare. I was in high school when it happened, and there were plenty of schools making measures due to “clown threats.”
Outside of the clown craze, there’s plenty of videos showing real life dangers, including those of psychotic criminals. Probably the most infamous, and the most terrifying, is that taken in Las Vegas, NV. Thankfully, the woman in the recording was said to be safe, and the man was arrested. Seriously, this is a graphic video, so just a warning to not watch it if you’re sensitive to extremely heavy, threatening topics.
Then, there’s the unexplained videos. Cryptids, ghosts, orbs… these videos lean more on the paranormal side of things, and while they can be faked, I still find them interesting regardless. Sure, the video of a mimic could just be a dude in a white morph suit… but what if it wasn’t? Isn’t that the fun of these things?
I even made my own silly edit of my Michael Myers cosplay in a Ring doorbell camera.
Do you have any spooky Ring doorbell videos that come to mind? Any paranoia that comes with it?
